'HAPPY PLACE' DIALOGUE RINGS A BELL… BUT I CAN'T REMEMBER WHO SAID IT WHEN
It was Cas, actually, in 6.07 “Family Matters”
Cas: (to Sam) Bite down on this. If there’s someplace that you find soothing, you should go there. In your mind.
But now he knows the human idiom for it.
8.20 Pac-Man Fever:
"SAM: Okay, okay, uh. Okay, Djinn poison puts your brain in something like a feedback loop while your blood boils, right?
SAM: Um, if the antidote didn’t break the loop, then maybe we can find a way to break it from the inside. I mean, if Djinn take you to your happy place, your happy place is like a dream —”
06x06: You Can’t Handle the Truth
"JANE places the gun under her chin. The camera moves up. A shot rings out and JANE’s blood splatters on a sign that reads: BIGGERSON’s: THE HAPPY PLACE."
These were the only two transcripts google brought up.
I find it kind of amusing that in both places ‘Happy Place’ is a misnomer, this seems to apply in Castiel’s case as well.
Sam in 8x20! That’s what I was thinking of!! Yes! Thank you~
"Happy places" and "false dreams" there’s something there about how Metatron being locked up does not actually bring Cas happiness. Locking up Metatron is more of an escape from reality. Metatron being alive and locked up is Cas’ way of avoiding everything that happened around Dean dying. Just like Charlie trying to save her mom was her way of avoiding the truth of what happened to her.
Eventually, the happy place must be be let go, so the truth can be faced. I feel there’s more but my brain is fried today…
